The Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia also requires a dedicated volunteer program in order to make the event a success for Northern Ireland.

Gran Fondo volunteering offers you:

  • Access to training and orientation sessions
  • Skill development
  • Long-term recognition
  • Official Giro merchandise
  • Being part of an iconic event experience
  • From 9-11 May 2014 over 950 volunteers helped deliver the 2014 Giro d’Italia Big Start.

Volunteers carried out a range of roles including Marshalling, Meet and Greet, Photography and Media. Race organizers RCS Sport and Shadetree Sports applauded the tremendous contribution of Big Start volunteers towards making the event such a success.

At a post Giro recognition event, Minister Arlene Foster said,

“Northern Ireland has a reputation for friendliness that people from around the world comment on regularly. Our Giro d’Italia volunteers certainly lived up to that reputation and played a very important role in ensuring everyone felt welcomed and had an enjoyable experience.”

“The dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who worked to support the Giro d’Italia in a wide variety of roles – from course marshals to those who helped with media accreditation – were crucial to ensuring its success.”

We want you to be part of our team to make the Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia a big success thus June.
